Jars for making candles
When working with candle wax that is not strong or sturdy enough to stand on its own as a pillar candle, such as soy wax, you may need a container to help prop it up. If you are talking oil candles, there is no other way to go but a container. This could be a glass jar, tin can, ceramic bowl, or any other non-flammable material that is hollowed out to hold liquid or solid material.
Fortunately, these containers need not be just plain and simple containers. They could vary in size, shape, color, or design. The best thing about these containers is that you can embellish them in any way you want to. You can paint, stencil, tie ribbons, glue beads, sequins, glass dots, twine, or stones on them. Just be sure your decorations are not flammable. You don’t want to burn anything down. The only other limit to what you can do with the containers is you own imagination.
Glass jars and bottles are often a favorite choice, particularly tempered glass as they are resistant to heat from boiling water. Also, you may already have them at home. Empty condiment, jam, and jellies jars are excellent choices for candle containers. There are also fine-looking wine bottles suitable for this. Candlelight flickering from thick martini and wine glasses will probably look great around the wine bottle candle. Tin cans are light and, when covered, hold scents well. How great they will look depends on your creativity. Food, such as pumpkin, can also be hollowed out and used to hold a candle. These are perfect during Halloween.
